The artistic career of Bernard Lejeune doesn’t lack bite. This strong chap from the Nord-Pas de Calais region wished to become a carpenter. He was obliged to embrace the noble profession of blacksmith, but at the first opportunity, his attraction for wood being the stronger, he devoted himself to sculpting wood in 1976. Whatever the wood species, Bernard Lejeune shows surprising mastery of this material. He combines flowing and dynamic shapes in his bestiary full of humour and in his beings that exude appeal, imagination and charm, revealing his experience as well as a feeling that is deeply personal.
